Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Nissan showcase Electric Vehicles to PM Modi: See in Images



Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the MOVE Summit that saw leading global and Indian automakers showcasing the India EV dream. The event was attended by over 2500 delegates across the world and saw speeches from some visionaries in the industry including the likes of Anand Mahindra, Osamu Suzuki, Volkmar Denner and PM Modi himself. The event also saw automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan, MG Motors, Mahindra, Tata Motors showcasing its various electric vehicles.


The range EVs showcased included electric cars, electric buses and electric three-wheelers. The Indian Government is bullish on its electric mobility dream and aims to have 15% sales coming from pure EVs in next 5 years. PM Modi believes EVs are important to bring down the country's oil import bill.


Tata Motors showcased its electric bus at the MOVE Global Mobility Summit and Guenter Butschek, MD & CEO, Tata Motors said that “Automotive is one of the strongest contributor to the Indian economy and with path-breaking initiatives introduced by the government through NITI Aayog, India is perfectly positioned to leapfrog the global economies in the mobility space on the back of strong technological advancements. While it is important for the industry to be inclusive sustainable and transformational, the future of efficient clean and sustainable mobility solutions lies in CESS i.e. Connected, Electrified, Shared and Safe.”




Maruti Suzuki showcased its first ever electric car prototype in India. The company will have 50 of this EV being tested in India starting October 2018. This EV is built on a global platform from Suzuki Motor Corporation and is developed at company's Gurugram facility.
Hyundai Kona electric SUV will be company's flag bearer in EVs and was also showcased at the PM Modi visited MOVE Global Mobility Summit. Hyundai has confirmed the launch of its electric cars and SUVs in India by 2020.


Nissan Leaf will lead Nissan's EV operations in India. The globally successful electric car is likely to make its India debut soon. The company also announced its new strategy in India which will focus a lot on EVs



Chinese MG Motors also went all aggressive to showcase its RX5 electric SUV and has confirmed the launch of this EV soon.



Maruti Suzuki Electric car will make its market launch in India in 2020. The testing will help Maruti to gain customer inputs and technical expertise.




Dr. Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra & Mahindra who was also a speaker at the summit showcased its Treao electric three-wheeler at the summit.
